Overview of the Browlift/Forehead Lift Procedure
A browlift, or forehead lift, is a cosmetic procedure that can be used by itself, or in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures to help improve the appearance of the face, and give it a more youthful look. A browlift is a rather minor cosmetic procedure, that requires very little cutting and a somewhat short recovery period.
What is a Forehead Lift Used For?
The brow or forehead is often one of the areas of the face that will start to wrinkle before any other area of the face. “Worry lines” are often a concern for people, and are deep wrinkles that appear in the brow due to certain and frequent muscle movements, age and gravity.
The older we get, the more that this skin starts to sag and muscles become weak, causing deep wrinkles to occur, as well as an overhang or sag to the eyebrow areas. A brow lift or forehead lift will help to repair these weak and damaged muscles, as well as remove and tighten excess skin. This will help to once again make skin taunt, and will give it a more youthful appearance.
The Browlift Procedure
A brow or forehead lift procedure can be performed in a number of ways. There are many different surgical approaches that can be used to achieve the results that you are looking for, and the type of procedure that is used for you may vary depending on what you are looking for.
There are three basic techniques that are used: The mid-forehead lift, the coronal forehead lift, and the endoscopic forehead lift. The mid-forehead lift and the coronal forehead lift use incisions that are strategically placed around the hair line to perform the surgery. The endoscopic forehead lift uses a surgical telescope to perform the surgery, and offers a lesser chance of complications due to scar appearance.
A browlift or forehead lift is primarily performed on those between the ages from 40-60, however it is a procedure that can be performed on almost anyone that is an adult, and is concerned with the appearance of their brow. In some cases, your cosmetic surgeon may recommend other methods of cosmetic treatment, before attempting to perform a brow lift.
