Breast Augmentation
Those who benefit from breast enlargement surgery are typically small breasted women, women with breasts that are unequal in size, women whose breasts are markedly smaller after pregnancy, and women whose breasts are sagging due to aging.
When the breasts are recontoured and enlarged with an implant, women often feel a renewed sense of their own femininity and a new sense of confidence. An implant is a small pliable rubber silicone shell which is filled with sterile salt-water solution (saline) or silicone-gel. Ideally, breast enlargement surgery lasts for a lifetime.
Other breast-sculpturing procedures can be performed in conjunction with breast enlargement. These include breast lifts, reduction of large areolae (colored area around the nipples), correction of inverted nipples, enlargement of small nipples, and reduction of overly prominent nipples.

Breast Lift
Breasts may sag for many reasons. Even young women can have sagging breasts because of pregnancy, weight loss, or the body's natural predisposition. As sagging takes place, the skin surrounding the breasts begins to stretch, and no amount of exercise or creams will correct the problem.
It is a source of unhappiness to many women, and if it distresses you, corrective surgery is the only way to improve this condition. The results of a breast lift vary from person to person. Please remember that the aging process continues after surgery. Younger women will be pleased to know that the nipple generally remains functional after breast lift surgery, and allows for nursing.

Breast Reduction
Women who suffer from overly large breasts do not need to be told of the discomfort they suffer. Back and neck pain, all too often, accompany large breasts. It is also difficult to find attractive clothes that fit properly. The rubbing motion of the breasts against the chest can cause skin irritation, while the bra straps gouge into the shoulders.
The woman who opts for reduction mammoplasty generally feels like a new person after surgery. Her posture is improved. She feels better and looks slimmer. Often, she develops a new confidence in herself.
For many patients, reduction mammoplasty is partially covered by medical/health insurance.
The surgery can be performed in the hospital or at our Centre, depending on your general medical condition.
If the surgery is performed at our Centre, Dr. Singer may wish to have you transferred to the hospital after surgery for a planned overnight stay.

Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)
Men who feel self-conscious about their abnormally large breasts (gynecomastia) often are reluctant to appear in bathing suits or participate in sporting activities without wearing loose fitting shirts to hide their chests.
Gynecomastia is derived from the Greek words to describe a condition that makes men's breasts appear enlarged or "woman-like." It may affect both breasts, or occasionally just one. There are a variety of reasons for the overdevelopment of male breast tissue, but in the vast majority of cases, there is no known cause.
This abnormal appearing chest contour can be improved with breast reduction surgery. The corrective procedures, however, are not a replacement for diet and exercise for the patient who is significantly overweight.
Removal of the fatty and glandular tissue of the breast which creates the abnormally full appearance can usually be achieved through liposuction alone, leaving only small inconspicuous scars. Rarely, in extreme cases, with poor elasticity of the skin, larger incisions to redrape the skin may be necessary. The procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis.
The benefits of male breast reduction are not only physical — producing firmer, flatter, more masculine chest contours — but emotional as well as self-esteem is many times improved. The results of the procedure are significant and permanent.
